The mission of the Washington Township Fire District is to provide a professional level of community fire protection and rescue services to the citizens and property within Washington Township in order to prevent or minimize the loss of life, pain and suffering, and property damage as a result of fire or other emergency.
The Fire District’s mission will be accomplished by the effective use of its volunteer, career, and physical resources, in cooperation with other public agencies, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, innovative techniques, and available technology to provide a high level of cost efficient quality service.
The combined volunteer and career members of the Washington Township Fire Department are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are all proud professionals!!!!
The Technical Rescue Team was organized in 2006 to provide advanced rescue services to Washington Township and the surrounding region. The team is capable of performing rope, collapse, confined space, and trench rescue operations. Members receive hundreds of hours of additional training and must drill regularly to qualify as part of the team. A cache of specialized equipment is maintained on the technical rescue trailer, housed at the East Holly Avenue station.
There are several ways to protect yourself, your family and your community
To help us, and the community, we are asking residents to Adopt a Hydrant. As you shovel your walks and driveways, we ask that you also include the area around the hydrant that is located on your block. Hydrants are typically located at the end or middle of each block, but they are used to protect all of the properties for 500 to 1,000 feet in both directions. In a fire situation, seconds count! Every few minutes a fire can double in size so it’s important for us to locate a hydrant, connect and establish a water supply quickly. Please join us in our efforts to keep Washington Township safe!
